What role might I play
as a student or faculty member?
- Staff a public health phone bank
- Collect public health data
- Provide Translation services
- Greet and provide direction when people
arrive at a dispensing site
- Assist in delivery of medical care within
your level of expertise.
- Lend the community your special
skills.
I am a skilled student/
faculty member of the health professions. Why is
it necessary for me to register pre-disaster?
Following many disasters, large
numbers of talented volunteers show up to help,
many of whom are turned away because they are
without the special skills and safety training
given pre-event to keep personnel safe.
An
effective response requires that volunteers follow
a pre-established protocol for activation and
follow the incident command
system.
My time is valuable. What
do I get in return?
- Networking. Meet other students, faculty and
experts in the field at fun training events and
yearly meetings.
- Service learning is a one of a kind
experience. Hone your training by working on the
scene at major Boston events.
- Cost-free training. Get prepared by the
best. For the sake of safety, one training per
year is required to remain an active member.
- Get prepared. Be proud of your volunteerism.
Get the skills you need to make a
difference.
- Show your pride. Get cool gear like t-shirts
to let others know your role in the
community.
I’m ready. How do
I get involved?
- Complete the on-line application.
- Attend an orientation and then participate
in a refresher training per year to remain an
active member.
- We will contact you shortly! Thank you for
your interest in the Boston Medical Reserve
Corps.
